Mean Kids

A bully is a mean machine
there really is no "in between!"

Why is it that some kids are nice
and some are so darned mean?

Kids can do some nasty things,
Like popping someone's water wings!

Or jumping off the teeter totter
Not exactly when they 'oughtta!

Or calling someone nasty names
and not including them in games...

Convincing them to stick their tongue
Right on the icy ladder rung...

They'll ring the bell then run and hide
To the dismay of those inside...

Flattening your front bike tire...

Sizzling ants by magnifier!

Tying tin cans to the cat..
Please tell me, where's the fun in that?

Some children are just mean and spiteful
While others are just plain delightful

It is so hard to understand
Why some kids ask & some demand...

I know which one I want to be
For all the world to clearly see.

In all the things you say and do
I'd like to ask, which one are you?

It's Cold Outside!

The seasons are a' changing
and when it starts to snow,
I dream of all the places
that I would like to go!

How I miss the swimming pool
and riding on my bike,
this snow has taken all the things
away from me I like!

I'm sure there must be something
That we could do today...
I'd better put a brave face on
'Cause winter's here to stay!

I guess we could go skating
On the pond, or at the rink,
When we get home I know there'll be
Hot chocolate to drink!

Or we could make a snowman!
We don't have to be so sad!
You can't do that in summer!
Maybe snow is not so bad!

Next we'll have a snowball fight,
And then move on to sledding!
I really can't remember why
The winter I was dreading!

After that some skiing...
And we'll build an igloo too,
There's just so many choices!
What is a kid to do?

And I've forgotten Christmas!
How could I be so silly?
Presents will make up for
The fact it's so darned chilly!

Snowflakes falling gingerly,
A winter so sublime,
We're happy with our snowmen,
So summer, take your time!

Mommy, It's A YAK!

There was a Shetland pony
Who just could not scratch his back
And that is why I was so sure
That pony was a YAK!

He rubbed against the barn door
It was driving him insane
The only thing that he achieved
Was matting up his mane.

He brushed along the fence post
'Cause he couldn't take the torture
But all that he succeeded in
Was pulling out some more fur.

He swatted at the tree trunks
Alas, to no avail
All that he managed to do
Was tangle up his tail.

What we think is one thing
May often be another,
And that is why we never judge
A book based on its cover.

A LLAMA SPIT ON GRANDMA

My Granny took me to the zoo
To see the things the monkeys do

And as she went to pat the llama
He up and spit upon my Grandma!

She pulled a tissue from her purse
And then things went from bad to worse

I really, surely, truly tried
To keep that tiny noise inside

But out it came, that hearty laugh
And who should hear, but a giraffe!

Oh, how he tried to hide that smirk
But don't you know? It didn't work!

Well, he was howling, just like me,
And so the monkeys came to see

Their merriment caused such a riot
There was no way to keep them quiet

They were having so much fun
The elephant thought he should come

The chimps, they choked

The gators giggled

The jaguars joked

The skunks, they sniggled

The rhinos roared

The songbirds soared

They laughed away

To Gran's dismay

She shook her fist, and called us daft,

And finally,

My Grandma LAUGHED.
